Julio Morales Cifuentes
My name is Julio, and I have been a Spanish instructor for almost 20 years now. I have worked in different language schools throughout the years and I have been a certified examiner for the Institute of Cervantes DELE program for 5 years now. Being an instructor of all levels in the online program of Spanish classes for more than 5 years has given me the opportunity to work with students at every level of proficiency, with different objectives and specializations. It has been a great experience and I enjoy all of the many aspects of my profession. Additionally, I have worked as an assistant guide of tourism with a special emphasis on traveling mountains and volcanoes, and teaching about the social and cultural themes of Guatemala. My background and professions have allowed me to enjoy all the beauty my country has to offer!

For the last 11 years I have been working as a professor of Spanish as a second language. My goal for each of my students is for them to be able to communicate with fluency and comprehension within the full scope of the Spanish language. I utilize different methods and techniques to meet students' goals, whether working in person or in an online session. In order to improve my online teaching knowledge and skills I have taken additional courses from the University of Cervantes of Spain.
Miriam Ixcaragua Velasquez
I was born in Guatemala City, the Capital of Guatemala, but at the age of 3 my family moved to the pleasant and much safer city of Quetzaltenango. I am the eldest of 4 siblings.
In 1993, I graduated from the University as a social worker. These studies filled me with great satisfaction and fond memories with my fellow students. I have a degree in social management and I have extensive experience in community work, especially in the Mayan communities.
I started to teach Spanish in 1990, which means that I have more than twenty years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language. In 2004 I joined Celas Maya as a team member. My work at Celas Maya has been very satisfactory due to continuing opportunities to grow personally and professionally. I have participated in many teacher training workshops which have improved my knowledge and skills as a teacher. I have also coordinated some University language programs. I am a certified examiner for the Institute of Cervantes DELE program and a member of the academic committee for Celas Maya. I have discovered that teaching Spanish- whether it is face-to-face or online- is my passion and that when I am teaching I am also learning. It is important for me to continue my training so that I can share my knowledge with students.

I have studied agronomy and in 2001 received a teaching degree from the University of Rafael Landivar.
In addition to teaching Spanish online and in-person at Celas Maya, I am a member of the school's academic committee. The committee focuses on the innovation of teaching methodologies, resource materials and teacher trainings, which are ongoing endeavors. I am a professor at the University and I teach courses in Language, Communication Strategies, Ecology and the History of Guatemala.
I was born and have lived my whole life in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. I grew up in a time when there was no democracy in Guatemala. It was a confusing time to grow up and it took some time to answer the many questions on my mind. For me, this created a strong interest about the history of Guatemala. Additionally, I have an interest in environmental issues and I am involved in environmental education.
I am continually innovating my methods of teaching so that I can offer my students the greatest opportunity for learning success.
I have been giving Spanish classes for 15 years so far, I really enjoy teaching Spanish because it is a beautiful language and also very usefull nowadays. I love knowing people from other countries and sharing experiences, knowledge and cultures. My favourite subjects are politics and sports, but I am interested in all kinds of topics.
I am a teacher for children, but also a teacher of Spanish as a Second Foreign Language and I give preparation and examination for the DELE exam. I have been teaching Spanish for more than 21 years, with a wide experience in teaching no only kids, but also teenagers and adults. I am a very dynamic and active person, with knowledge about various topics such as agriculture, political and social sciences, medicine, Guatemalan culture and gastronomy and much more.
I really like teaching this beautiful language using different methods and technics to facilitate the learning process, I have a lot of patience and I enjoy getting to know people from other countries with different cultures, through online and presential clases.

I was born in Cantel, a village close to Quetzaltenango. I received my primary education in Cantel, and continued my secondary education in Quetzaltenango. After this, I studied to be a primary education teacher at the Western Institute of Young Women, and graduated in 1999. In 2000 I started my career as a primary school teacher in San Francisco El Alto, Totonicipan, where I worked for 4 years. At the same time, I studied at the University of Rafael Landivar and I received my degree in Teaching and Psychology in 2004. After graduating from the University, I completed grammar courses in K'iche- an indigenous language spoken in the Quetzaltenango area. I completed a teacher training at Celas Maya, and I have continued to develop my education over the last few years with the help of Celas Maya´s workshops, seminars and courses for teachers. In total I have received about 35 diplomas from different courses and trainings. Currently I work as a primary teacher in Zunil, and I am Spanish and K´iche teacher at Celas Maya-both at the school as well as online via Skype. Teaching online has added many opportunities to my career path, including being able to teach to people from around the world without the need for the student to travel or even leave the house!
