Where's Celas Maya
Celas Maya Spanish and K'iche School is located in the centre of the historical district of "Puente de los Chocoyos", 3 blocks away from the "Parque Central" in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.
Quetzaltenango is situated in a valley at an altitude of 2333 meters above sea level and surrounded by beautiful mountains and volcanoes. Quetzaltenango is also known as Xela and is the second capital of Guatemala with approximately 200,000 inhabitants. The city is known for its rich culture, there are 3 universities and it is home to many Guatemalan writers and artists. The majority of the population is of Maya-Quiche origin, most of which are dressed in traditional costumes.
There are a lot of things to see such as the square called Parque Centroamerica which consists of beautiful sculptures, fountains and stone benches. Around this park one can find museums, a cathedral and churches. On the first Sunday of every month there is a craft market at the Central Park where the traditional products of Quetzaltenango and surrounding villages are for sale. This market is definitely worth visiting.
Despite all the sights, Quetzaltenango is still pure and not discovered by mass tourism. It is a big city but compared to other major cities of Guatemala, Xela or Quetzaltenango is convenient, clean and safe.
